Although a gratuity is not expected it is always appreciated.
- What ages are your activities appropriate for and do the ponies have a weight limit?
The ponies and zoo are great for children of all ages, however, most ponies do have an 80 lb. weight limit. We do have several larger ponies available for a small additional fee. These ponies have a 125 lb. weight limit. Wagons and carriages are fun for both children and adults.
- How far do you travel?
We travel to all of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, the Rockford area and suburbs, parts of Wisconsin, Iowa and Indiana. If you're not near these areas we still may be able to come to your location or could perhaps refer you to a company in your area.
- Do your animals bite?
Our animals will never purposely and aggressively bite your child. Many of the animals are ruminants and do chew their cud (llamas, calves, sheep and goats). This means they are continually chewing. If a child sticks their fingers IN an animal's mouth there is a chance of getting nibbled on. We also recommend that small children do not feed the animals without constant parental supervision.
- Are your animals healthy?
All of the animals are on a regular deworming and vaccination schedule. They are also fed the highest quality hay and grain. We also receive surprise visits from a USDA inspector to make sure that everything is in compliance with the animal welfare act. A veterinarian also routinely sees the animals.
- Where should I have the zoo or ponies set up?
The zoo and ponies can either be done on grass or asphalt. The ponies can be done anywhere on your property. The zoo needs to be set up in an easy access location. We like to back up the truck and trailer to EXACTLY where the zoo is to be set up and then unload the animals directly into the zoo enclosure. We then move the trailer. If this is not possible at your location please let us know in advance. There is a small fee if we have to carry the animals.
- When are you available?
A Zoo to You is available 24/7. Please keep in mind that all holidays are VERY busy. October and December are the 2 busiest months so we recommend booking well in advance.
- What guarantees my date and time?
The only 2 things that guarantee your date and time are a signed contract and a 50% deposit at least 2 weeks in advance.
- What if it rains?
There are a few different options if it should rain.. Most people don't want to cancel the animal activities. A Zoo to You can set up a zoo or walk ponies in your garage. We can also reschedule. If neither of these options will work we do have a rain policy in the contract. We will return your deposit if you cancel due to rain provided that you call us in the specified amount of time (this will be in your contract) before your activity is to start.
